Mid-season review: Why the Giants' best is as good as anyone's
SEN • June 29th, 2025 5:52 pm

Kane Cornes and David King have reviewed every club’s start to 2025 as the competition heads into the mid-season byes.
Graded on SEN’s Fireball, the pair had a look at where every club was performing well and what areas need to be fixed up between now and the end of the season.
With GWS heading into their week off in seventh spot, Cornes and King had a closer look at how the Giants have performed in their first 15 games
Adam Kingsley’s side are currently 9-6 and are in a fight to make the top eight for the third consecutive season.

The Giants were many people’s pre-season premiership favourite and lived up to the expectation when they trashed Collingwood by 52 points in Opening Round.
After winning four of their first five, the side slumped to three consecutive losses, however recent wins against Brisbane and Gold Coast have shown they are still a serious threat.
King felt that the Giants best was as good as anyone’s in the competition and have had some big wins so far in 2025.
“If you want to talk them up you could say their best is as good as anyone’s,” King said.
“I mean Jake Stringer last weekend, this is exactly why you go after a player like this, who can win you a game in a short burst, this is what they are looking for.
“Over the last couple of years they’ve run a ground at the very, very pointy end of the year they’ve just needed one or two more goals to break teams and haven’t quite had that.
“The fight is on now to make the eight, their percentage of 107.6 puts them in a really awkward position, they’ve nearly got to win an extra game on those around them.
“They’ve had some big wins too, Aaron Cadman has taken the next step up, Hogan is still consistent, Green is still there abouts.
“You would have to say Finn Callaghan is now making that step up into that next level of player."
