The 2025 Melbourne Cup will be held on Tuesday, November 4 at 3pm.
The 3200m staying race is known as the “race that stops a nation” and is run at the Flemington Racecourse.
While a lot of the talk has centred around Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott's Sir Delius to win the Cup, that can’t happen anymore as the horse has been medically scratched from the race.
Caulfield Cup winner Half Yours is now the $3.60 favourite (on Sportsbet) to win the $10 million Group 1, but you can't count out the international horse Al Riffa.
The Melbourne Cup is more than just a race - it is an opportunity for family and friends to gather together and marvel at Australia's most famous race.
53 horses remain in the hunt for the race and Chris Waller leads the way with nine runners in the mix, including Bart Cummings winner Valiant King, as well as Birdman, Buckaroo, Land Legend and River Of Stars, among others.
The final Melbourne Cup field will be made public on the Saturday, November 1.
