Melbourne Cup barrier draw and final field for 2025

The Melbourne Cup barrier draw for 2025 will take place at 5:30pm immediately after the final race of Derby Day at Flemington on Saturday.

The final field will be confirmed shortly before the draw with Cup to be run on November 4 at 3pm AEDT.

There are currently 40 horses in the running which will be reduced to a field of 24.

Caulfield Cup winner Jamie Melham will ride the current favourite Half Yours.

If she wins the race that stops a nation, Melham will become the first female jockey to achieve the Caulfield-Melbourne Cup double.

We will be live for the barrier draw on Saturday afternoon.

The Melbourne Cup dates back to 1861 and is the centrepiece of the Melbourne Spring Carnival.

It is run over a distance of 3200 metres with a total prizemoney of $10 million.
