Cox's brutal take down of Zorko after goggle grab

Mason Cox has returned serve to Lions star Dayne Zorko after the google grab in last weekend’s preliminary final between their sides.
Earlier this week, SEN regular Zorko was fined by the AFL for grabbing the American’s eyewear but showed little remorse when speaking to Corey and Heals on SENQ Breakfast.
“A seven-foot guy comes running at you in the streets, what are you gonna do?” Zorko said.
“It doesn’t really make sense to me that someone can initiate it and then, just standing up for yourself and protecting yourself, you get in trouble.
“Should I have grabbed his glasses? Probably not, but it is what it is.”
Cox has worn protective eye wear since 2022 due to ongoing issues which at one stage almost cost him his sight.
The run-in between the pair at the MCG last weekend drew plenty of criticism – aimed at Zorko, and now Cos has had his say.
“I’ll say this, you know, Dayne Zorko, he’s a kind, I think he’s a great man, a great role model, a person I think I’d be great friends with … are all things I would not say about Dayne Zorko. I’ll be honest with you,” Cox said on ESPN’s footy podcast Red Time.
“I don’t think he’s a favourite player of a lot of people, including myself.
“He’s a great player. No denying that, and respect him and his ability on the football field. But yeah, that’s pretty much all I’ll say around it.”
