Brisbane Lions co-captain Lachie Neale has taken to Instagram to blast those who choose to abuse AFL players on social media.
The two-time Brownlow Medallist and 2024 premiership skipper is not happy with the treatment the playing fraternity receives from faceless names on social media.
“People hiding behind keyboards to attack players are the biggest stain on society,” Neale wrote.
“It’s getting beyond a joke now, the things I’ve seen sent are some of the most horrific messages I’ve ever seen.
“It’s a game of football, grow the f--k up. Cowards.
“Put your face and name to your words.”
Neale’s words come in the wake of Port Adelaide’s Willie Rioli who was subject to racist and homophobic abuse after he deleted an Instagram post referencing this hatred of Hawthorn.
The Lions were beaten by Collingwood by 52 points on Thursday night.
