What Essendon must avoid according to Sheedy

Essendon great Kevin Sheedy admits the club has plenty of work to do to improve.
The Bombers have been hit badly by injury this season which has them sitting 15th on the ladder with six wins.
Sheedy is aware of the current situation under Brad Scott, but how do they fix it?
The four-time premiership coach did not have all the answers but one thing he did point out was that the Dons keep letting good players leave.
Previous VFL best and fairest winner Patrick Voss is emerging as a quality key forward at Fremantle while Massimo D’Ambrosio has excelled since his shift to Hawthorn.
He’d like to see the club continually avoid losing quality players to rival clubs.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do. We just keep giving players away,” Sheedy said on SEN’s Sportsday.
“When you see Patrick Voss (play well at Freo) and players roll over to Hawthorn and nearly make All-Australian like D’Ambrosio. It would be very frustrating for the fans.
“I remember Bachar Houli going - and this is a long time ago - but Houli played in three premierships for the Tigers, which I’m happy with.
“But over the years we’ve just let too many good players go.”
Jake Stringer left the Dons for GWS last year and was finding top form before a hamstring injury last week, while Brandon Zerk-Thatcher departed in late 2023 and has been ok at Port Adelaide.
Joe Daniher, Adam Saad and Orazio Fantasia all left the club in 2020 and have had varied success at other clubs.
Bombers aside, Sheedy also spoke of the number one dislike in footy right now.
“I really dislike when a player kicks a goal and sprints off the ground,” he added.
“That is the number one dislike in footy from the fans.”
The Dons kick off Round 23 with a Marvel Stadium clash against St Kilda on Friday night.
