Kane Cornes' immediate reaction to the Ken Hinkley-Josh Carr succession plan news

Kane Cornes has given his immediate reaction to the news that Ken Hinkley will depart as Port Adelaide coach following the 2025 season, handing the position to assistant coach Josh Carr.

While it has been widely speculated for a while and Cornes himself predicted the handover would eventually occur, the Port Adelaide great believes it takes his old side out of premiership calculations for this season.

“It automatically rules out Port Adelaide for any short at the premiership this year. (You’re) not changing coach before the start of the season if you’re going to win the premiership,” he said.

“I hope it gives everyone a chance to appreciate the coach Ken has been. I know this will satisfy a lot of Port Adelaide fans.”
