John Longmire names his 2025 premiership favourites

Former Sydney Swans coach John Longmire has named the team he believes will go all the way in 2025.
With six teams all within a game of a top two spot and the top nine sides all within three games of each other, September is as wide open as it has been in recent years, and following the Bulldogs’ demolition of the Giants on Thursday night, there’s a case to make for all nine teams as September approaches.
Speaking with David King and Kane Cornes, Longmire expressed the difficulty in determining one sole favourite, rattling off a series of sides that he believes are a genuine shot at premiership glory.
“There’s probably a couple at the moment, it’s pretty open,” Longmire told SEN Fireball.
“I like the way Adelaide are going about it, I reckon they are looking really good. I think they are very even across the board.
“I’ve been really into seeing Fremantle evolve. They’re a pretty young team, and I like the way they’re going about it.
“Clearly Collingwood are well coached, and Brisbane are going to be up there again – I think it’s going to be a very even finals series.”
Despite each of the four aforementioned sides having a strong case, North Melbourne premiership teammate King was not overly pleased with Horse's answer, adamant that Longmire should narrow it down to one single premiership favourite.
King: “That was four teams, Horse.”
Longmire: “Adelaide. I’ll put Adelaide, there you go.”
King: “I thought you were reading the ladder for a minute!”
Longmire: “There you go – how about Adelaide. How’s that for you!”
The Crows will take on the Hawks at Adelaide Oval on Friday night in a bid to nail down a top four spot.
