Jake Trbojevic open to Super League move after NRL career
Manly Sea Eagles forward Jake Trbojevic hasn’t ruled out a move to the Super League to finish his career as he enters the twilight of his career.
Trbojevic, who will be 32 at the start of the 2026 season, is entering the final year of a massive six-year contract signed back in 2019, with the club opening negotiations with both Jake and Tom Trbojevic to ensure they remain one-club players.
The former Blues captain is widely expected to take over as Sea Eagles captain next year when current captain Daly Cherry-Evans departs.
A Northern Beaches local, Trbojevic is the heart and soul of Manly and has repeatedly insisted he could never play against his junior club.
However, Trbojevic refused to rule out continuing his career in the Super League when his time at the Sea Eagles ends.
“I would never play against Manly, but I went (to England) in the World Cup in 2022 and it’s such a good experience that it sort of opened your eyes up to that,” Trbojevic told SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“That actually would be something very cool to finish off your career, but I haven’t thought about it too much if I’m honest.
“I’m just happy with how things are going at the moment and hopefully just finish at Manly.
“My contract’s to the end of 2026, so the end of next year, and they’re just working through things.
“I’ll only be another year or so and Tom (Trbojevic) might be a few extra.
“I think things get reported a bit ahead of time… we haven’t really been doing too much lately.
“We’ve got a lot of time on our hands and that sort of thing, so we’re just worried about footy.”
His current priority is ensuring Manly reach back-to-back finals series for the first time since 2014.
The Sea Eagles currently sit in 9th on the ladder and this week take on the 10th placed Roosters in what Trbojevic described as a “must-win” match for both clubs.
“They're a good side and they're right around us on the table so we have to win,” Trbojevic said.
“We’re sort of in a position, we’ve gone nine wins, nine losses so we haven’t quite nailed it yet.
“It’s important these wins… so it’d be nice to really go out, perform well and obviously turn around last week because last week was a pretty tough performance for us.
"We've had some good form the last few weeks so we take a bit of confidence from that and hopefully we can go out and do a job in the Gotcha 4 Life Cup.”
