Is JUH social media "baiting" of Riewoldt the last straw?
There are growing frustrations and concerns for Jamarra Ugle-Hagan following the troubled Bulldogs star’s latest use of social media which took aim at Nick Riewoldt.
Earlier this week the club announced that Ugle-Hagan was taking a leave of absence to address his well being after months of speculation over whether he would actually play this season.
For weeks the 23-year-old has been absent from training, missed major club milestones all the while posting vision of himself out partying on his social platforms.
It is his use of Instagram in particular that is worsening tensions, particularly within the club, according to Channel 7’s Tom Morris.
“There’s frustrations all over the place towards Jamarra,” Morris said on SEN Fireball.
“We’ve been talking about this for ages.
“The main one from the club and other people is his use of social media and his perceived baiting of the Bulldogs and others around him.
“Yesterday, when he changed his display image to one of Nick Riewoldt stemming from the St Kilda school girls scandal from 15 years ago.
“It’s not the last straw but it’s a continuation of a series of events for people to shake their heads at. The fact it took him five hours to change his display image, despite being told by multiple people to do just proves that it’s a pretty unfortunate situation.
“He’s a clearly not well and he needs help.
“Everyone is trying to help him, but he needs to help himself.
“Every day there is a new story about Jamarra and he doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of what he’s doing.”
Morris is convinced that if Ugle-Hagan does leave the Dogs and is handed an AFL lifeline for 2026 and beyond, it won't be with a Victorian club.
