Investigation pending after jockey bust-up at Doomben
Two jockeys are under investigation following an alleged altercation at Doomben this week.
Noel Callow and Kyle Wilson-Taylor have been named as the duo involved in the incident which is understood to have happened trackside on Wednesday.
Callow is understood to have immediately left the track needing hospitalisation and is now suspended from riding for 12 days under concussion protocols.
Speaking on SENTrack on Friday morning, integrity commission deputy Kim Kelly said: “On Wednesday there was a report made to the stewards that there was a physical altercation between two riders.
“As a result of that the stewards opened an enquiry into the matter and took a considerable body of evidence from officials and jockeys. The matter has been adjourned for a date and time to be fixed as Callow was off course for medical treatment.
“The matter will be resumed at the earliest possible occasion. Callow has been stood down under concussion protocols.”
Asked who instigated the altercation, Kelly said: “That’s the matter under inquiry... they will sort through all the associated circumstances and come to a finding.
“We would prefer it if it didn’t happen but it’s in the steward’s hands.”
Kelly confirmed that Wilson-Taylor will continue to ride until the findings come back.
No report has been made to Queensland Police and they have no active investigation into the incident.
