Injury Report: Hawks skipper ruled out, Dangerfield on verge of return

A number of injury setbacks and returns have been confirmed ahead of Round 13, with clubs releasing their injury reports ahead of the second mid-season bye round.
Melbourne’s Jack Viney has undergone surgery following a hand fracture during training this week. The veteran’s return remains to be confirmed as he recovers from surgery.
Hawthorn will be without captain James Sicily, with the club announcing the defender is currently managing a hip/abdominal injury. The Hawks have confirmed the skipper will not feature in their next two games against the Bulldogs and Adelaide before their bye round in Round 15.
Luckless Lion Keidean Coleman will once again endure a stint on the sidelines after suffering a quad strain while training. The back flanker will miss around five weeks, eyeing off a return beyond Brisbane’s bye round.
In good news, Brandon Starcevich (concussion) and Sam Day (hamstring) may be available for selection in the coming weeks.
Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield is a test to play this week following his hamstring injury in Round 10, while Jack Bowes remains a week away from return.
Carlton will test two top players ahead of their clash with rivals Essendon, with both Jack Silvagni (groin) and Zac Williams (calf) returning to full training. Jordan Boyd is also available after passing concussion protocols.
Collingwood’s Lachie Schultz is set for five to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in the final moments of the Pies’ win over the Hawks in Round 12. Brayden Maynard remains multiple weeks away as he recovers from a Plantar Fascia, while Dan McStay will be assessed for a return from a knee injury in the coming weeks.
Port Adelaide recruit Jack Lukosius has suffered a fresh injury setback, reporting a back injury that will keep the forward sidelined for at least a further two to three weeks. Jason Horne-Francis will also miss the Power’s clash with the Giants, while Kane Farell, Josh Sinn and Esava Ratugolea are expected to be available for selection.
The Giants have confirmed that veteran Callan Ward will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL, while Finn Callaghan and Jake Stringer both remain one to two weeks away from return. Small forward Brent Daniels is set for a return in Round 13, while ruckman Kieren Briggs will miss the next three weeks with an ankle complaint.
Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Treloar is eyeing off a return this week, returning from a leg concern to potentially play his second game of the season. Star forward Sam Darcy remains just a few weeks away from a highly anticipated return from his knee injury.
Fremantle fans can expect both Michael Walters and Jaeger O’Meara to take the field following their bye round, returning from respective knee and hamstring concerns, while the Saints look to regain both Jack Macrae and Liam Stocker.
