The Indigenous All Stars lit up Optus Stadium on Saturday night, providing plenty of highlights as they marched on to a convincing 43-point victory over Fremantle.
Indigenous stars from across the league came together to showcase their elite speed, mind blowing agility and highlight reel moments in what was a special night for the AFL and the Indigenous community.
Most notably, Jy Simpkin shone the brightest in the end for the All Stars, as he amassed a game high 30 disposals enroute to being crowned the Polly Farmer medal for being best on ground.
Collingwood’s Norm Smith medallist Bobby Hill was the major goal kicker, accumulating four for the game as well as being involved in eight of the All Stars’ 28 scores.
Jason Horne-Francis also starred, as he gathered a handy three goals to go along with his 17 disposals.
As for Fremantle, Caleb Serong led the way with 27 disposals with 12 of them being contested. Andrew Brayshaw also had a fair share of it as well, as he recorded 25 disposals.
Michael Frederick did most of the scoring for the Dockers, as he managed to kick three goals straight. Jeremy Sharp, Luke Jackson and Jye Amiss were the other multiple goal scorers, gaining two each for their efforts in front of 38,000 people.
Only two players left the game with injury concerns, one for each side.
Ash Johnson couldn’t finish the game for the All Stars, after he suffered a right leg injury.
And for the Dockers, they’ll be without Sam Switkowski for the next 12 days after he suffered a head knock from teammate Jye Amiss which saw him being ruled out with concussion.
It’s worrying signs for the Dockers small forward, who missed three games last year with concussion.
Fremantle’s next game is against Melbourne on March 2nd when both sides play in their last practise games before the beginning of the season.
The Dockers open up their 2025 season with a trip to Geelong to take on the Cats in what promises to be an exciting round one encounter.
