Incoming Blues CEO to instil "sweeping changes" to coaching group

Incoming Blues CEO Graham Wright is set to stamp his ground at Carlton, preparing sweeping changes across the board upon taking over later this year.
Following the club’s underwhelming start to 2025, journalist Damien Barrett last night revealed that the Blues are expected to commence Wright’s transition into the CEO role as early as July of this year, taking over from the departing Brian Cook months earlier than expected.
With the early transition, SEN’s Tom Morris has reported that the Blues believe Wright will waste no time in cleaning out the coaching sector, with a number of esteemed coaches expected to be shown the door at the end of the season.
“Sweeping changes are coming at Carlton in the off-season,” Morris told SEN Breakfast.
“This is Graham Wright’s style anyway, but he is confided in people close to him that there are key areas in the club that he would like to turn over in his way.
“I’m looking at the football department, specifically Michael Voss’ coaching panel. So, Aaron Hamill, Luke Power and Ash Hansen are all contracted, but there are at least five or six coaches that aren’t.
“If they are still out of contract in a month or six weeks’ time, they are in real trouble. I’m talking about development coaches, Tim Clarke, Jordan Russell, Brad Ebert, Tom Lonergan, Torin Baker, these guys in the footy department.
“This is not to say that Hansen, who is highly regarded, as is Hamill, as is Power, are all completely safe either, because the pay-out is so small. But they are contracted for next year so you’d suggest based on that, it would be more likely they would be there as well.”
Despite the expected changes within the coaching panel, Morris suspects that those changes are set to occur around Michael Voss, with the head coach expected to hold his seat at the helm.
“That is what people believe is going to happen,” Morris confirmed.
“Now it’s at the point where people inside Carlton expect Wright to come in and stamp his authority. They’re all waiting for him to make significant change at Carlton.
“Wright will take over in July, so that will come forward from what it was going to be at the end of the season from Brian Cook.”
Despite high expectations entering the season, the Blues currently sit in 12th place, recording just four wins from their first 11 games.
