Immediate Everest interest in Private Harry after effortless trial win

Rising sprint star Private Harry was ultra impressive when idling to a comfortable win in a trial at Rosehill on Tuesday morning.
The undefeated three-year-old colt, under regular jockey Ash Morgan, easily accounted for the likes of Sunshine In Paris, Royal Patronage, Amelia’s Jewel and Kimochi over 1000m as he tunes up for his second preparation.
Private Harry, trained by Nathan Doyle, was immediately the subject of offers from Everest slot holders according to Kurrinda Bloodstock’s Sean Driver.
“We’ve already had a few calls post trial, we’ve had a few nibbles there (for The Everest),” Driver said on SENTrack’s Giddy Up.
“It’s really good that there’s interest there. That’s our goal, I think he’s one of the best sprinters in the country.
“I know it’s only a trial but I can assure you he was only idling there. He’s come back better and I genuinely think he’s a horse on the up.”
Driver said connections would not be against locking away an Everest slot ahead of time, but a decision will be made with the horses’s best interests at heart.
“That’s up to the slot holder and what sort of deal gets offered on the table,” he added.
“I think we’ve got one of the horses to beat, I think he’s got so much more improvement still to come. He only turned three years old four months ago.
“I’ll leave that to the slot holders. Nathan and I as a team always sit down and discuss it. It is a team decision and what’s best for the horse at the end of the day.
“The animal comes first and we need to look after the owners as well.”
Private Harry will trial again in two weeks at Newcastle or Rosehill before resuming in the Galaxy on March 22 and then into the TJ Smith in April before a likely Everest assault.
“If he happens to score in one or both of those we’ll sit down with Nathan and discuss,” Driver said further.
“He’s nominated for the Arrowfield, but if you get those Group 1 scalps he’s got a stud career for life.
“He’s in very good order. The big plan is obviously the big one in October in The Everest.”
