“I’m really big on them”: Cam Mooney’s “sneaky top four” side for 2025

Cameron Mooney is very bullish on Fremantle ahead of the 2025 AFL season.
The Dockers disappointed in 2024, missing finals after losing their last four fixtures of the campaign.
That came on the back of a subpar 2023 season where they also missed September action having played finals in 2022.
Despite their late-season capitulation this year, Mooney believes the list Justin Longmuir has at his disposal is primed to push into the top four next year.
Mooney’s frequent conversations with former Geelong teammate Joel Corey, who is an assistant at the Dockers, has given him even more confidence that they can fire.
“They’re actually my sneaky top four next year,” Mooney said on SEN Breakfast.
“I had them as my sneaky top four a couple of years ago before they went backwards and probably didn’t have the courage to go with them last year.
“I talk a lot with Joel Corey who is over there as an assistant coach through the midfield.”
Mooney is particularly keen on Freo’s key forwards Josh Treacy and Jye Amiss - a duo he believes can develop into the most damaging partnership in the competition.
“I just look at this side and I see Josh Treacy and Jye Amiss, I feel these two can be the best one-two punch in the coming years,” he continued.
“I’m so bullish on those two boys.
“Their midfield is as strong as anybody’s. They’re young, they’re fantastic.
“The big one is the Sean Darcy/Luke Jackson combination, but they are so confident over there that it can and will work once they’re both fit and firing.
“It’s got to be their time. They’ve got to have a really good nudge at it over the next two years.
“I’m really big on them. I’ll go out on a limb and just say I think they’re my sneaky top four.”
The Dockers also recruited premiership star Shai Bolton from Richmond in the off-season while adding Quinton Narkle via the SSP and top draftee Murphy Reid (Pick 17), among others.
They will take on the Indigenous All-Stars in February and Melbourne in the AFL Community Series in March prior to the 2025 season proper kicking off later that month.
