Legendary US broadcaster Joe Buck is the latest big name to throw his support behind the NFL’s reported venture to Melbourne.
Earlier this week it was reported the NFL will play regular season games at the MCG starting from 2026, with confirmation from commissioner Roger Goodell expected to come during Super Bowl 59 on Monday.
Speaking with SEN's Gerard Whateley on Tuesday, Buck said its “awesome” to see the league taking regular season games to Australia.
“I just think it speaks to the power of this league, and the growth and the interest,” Buck said.
“It’s flattering to the sport, it’s flattering to us knowing that people care in other parts of the world.
“The more the merrier, that’s the way I feel about it.”
And he assured SEN listeners he’d be asking his bosses at ESPN to send him down under when the NFL comes to town.
“I want to do that game; I want to go there and do a football game,” Buck added.
“I’m all for it, I’ll do football anywhere, and getting another a flight to another country, I love that stuff.”
According to reports the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles will be the first teams to do battle at Melbourne’s sporting colosseum.
