Chiefs captain Luke Jacobson will make his 100th Super Rugby appearance this Saturday in Waikato, becoming just the 14th player in Chiefs history to reach the milestone.
Jacobson told Sport Nation Mornings on Thursday it's a “pretty special milestone in my career, a club that I've looked up to probably most of my life.”
“Supporting as a young fulla then growing up through the grades and then having the privilege to pull on the jersey for the first time.”
Jacobson's debut came in 2018, making an unexpected appearance off the bench against the Blues at Eden Park.
The 28-year-old said he will remain loyal to the Chiefs and there’s “not a chance” he will move to another club.
“I'm hugely grateful that I've managed to land on my feet at the Chiefs and there's a reason why I haven't left, because I love it here.”
Over halfway through the Super Rugby regular season, the second-placed Chiefs will take on ladder leading Hurricanes, with a chance to move into top spot.
“I'm sure the 'Canes will bring their best. We're going to bring our best and may the best man win.”
Jacobson said he really enjoyed this week's preparation and believes after finding their rhythm, his side are right where they need to be.
“I’ve got full trust that if we stick to our systems and everybody plays their part, we'll definitely be able to shut them down.
“We know that it's possibly the two best teams in the competition going at it so we're going to have a good matchup.
“These are the games that you enjoy playing for.”
Jacobson has high hopes the game will bring out the best of both teams.
