Group 1 winning jockey set to take "full advantage" of suspension

Jockey Lachlan Neindorf had a terrific weekend in the saddle, riding Snow Mercy to a Group 3 victory and securing a Group 2 with Ferivia.
However, his victory on Snow Mercy resulted in a 10-meeting suspension for careless riding, which will commence on September 29 and conclude on October 8.
Instead of viewing the suspension in a negative mindset, the two-time Group 1 winner sees it as an opportunity to grow.
“The suspension isn’t ideal this time of year, especially whilst I’m building momentum at a crucial time,” Neindorf told RSN’s Correct Weight.
“We’ve got to deal with the card we’re dealt.
“I’ll take full advantage of that suspension and come back bigger and stronger than ever.”
One of Neindorf’s winning horses, Ferivia, stamped a golden ticket to the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) following her Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) victory on Saturday.
The jockey admitted that he is not surprised at how the Phillip Stokes trained filly has secured herself into a Group 1 race.
“I’ve always liked this horse from the first day I sat on her,” Neindorf said.
“I remember Phil came over one day and I said to Phil, 'This is gonna be a really nice filly this.'
“I said, 'I’m gonna have a lot of fun with her.'
“She’s always given you that feel of a nice horse.
“It’s no surprise that she’s doing what she’s doing.
“She’s just got qualities that good horses show – she’s tough, she ticked the 1400m box on a strong tempo.”
Ferivia held on by 0.06 lengths against Ole Dancer and some pundits were claiming that Ole Dancer would’ve won if the race was one stride longer.
Neindorf backed up the filly, stating that most other horses wouldn’t have been able to do what she did, if they had the exact preparation that Ferivia has had.
“Yes, she was rock-hard fit, and it was a blanket finish, and you can look at it and say, ‘Another stride and we get beat by Ole Dancer.’” the jockey said.
“That’s all good and well, but at the end of the day it’s her first racing preparation, she’s fifth-up and she’s come over from Adelaide.
“I think if any other horse in that race had the same prep that she had, they might’ve been looking to lay down at the 400m mark.
“She’s very tough and she’ll push onto the (Thousand) Guineas and be a leading contender in there, but I don’t think any of us are going to be disappointed any which way.
“She’s done an enormous job this preparation.
“I think the best of her is still gonna be in a prep’s time – possibly in the Autumn she’s gonna be furnished into a really nice horse.”
Ferivia is currently $11 (on Sportsbet) in the Thousand Guineas.
Odds correct when published at 4pm on September 28.
