'His kicking game is second to none': McCullough and Parker weigh in on Reynolds’ future
Adam Reynolds has spoken on his desire to continue playing beyond this season, with SENQ’s Andrew McCullough and Corey Parker believing that a healthy season from the halfback will help the Broncos push up the ladder for a top eight finish.
The former Brisbane Broncos legends spoke about Reynolds’ ability to help the Broncos return to finals after their 12th place finish last season.
“For the Broncos to go deep into semi-final football and then ultimately win the competition, you need a bit of luck but you need your best players on the park and obviously Adam is part of that,” Parker said.
In 2024, Reynolds was unable to play for most of the year only managing to play 13 games due to getting an injury to his bicep.
This was the lowest amount of games that he has played in a seasons since debuting for Souths in 2012.
But the area in which that Reynolds can really make a difference with his kicking game.
"His kicking game is second to none. It's such an important part of the modern game," McCullough said.
"The way he gets them out of trouble and earns them repeat sets. If they can keep him on the field the majority of the year it'll go a long way.
“He is a winner, he’s won the comp, Origin, the whole lot. So, they need him there (in the 7) at the back end of the year and just adds to the whole situation about who plays where but Adam will be slotting into the 7 definitely.”
Despite the injury, he still managed to average 86% from goal conversions last season with was 10th amongst NRL players who have played more than 10 games showing his effectiveness from the kicking tee.
Despite the speculation around him, Reynolds has not spoken much about his future with his contract ending this year, but he did provide an update about wanting to play for longer.
“At the moment, I’m pretty keen to go back again,” Reynolds said yesterday.
“Time will tell, you have got to be wanted first, playing good football and still be doing your job at the highest quality,
“If I am doing all of those things right and the body feels good then I see no reason to call it quits.”
Reynolds is not expected to play for the Broncos in their first pre-season game on Sunday against the Gold Coast Titans.
However, he is expected to play in their opening game against the Sydney Roosters.
