“He’s telling me he’s lost a bunch of weight”: Giants forward predicting big year from key recruit

GWS forward Darcy Jones is bullish about what new teammate Jake Stringer can accomplish at the club in 2025.
The talented forward was traded to the Giants for pick 53 in the trade period from Essendon – after kicking 42 goals last season.
Jones said Stringer is in great shape and will give the club an incredibly dangerous forward mix.
“I can’t wait to play with him. It’s actually been really impressive what he’s been able to do,” Jones told SEN Breakfast.
“He’s telling me he’s lost a bunch of weight and his skinfolds have gone down so much and it shows because he is looking really good, training really good. We’re excited.
“We’ve got a pretty dangerous forward line in 2025. It’ll be exciting as to watch and play with. He’ll be so good.
“It’ll be good because defenders won’t know who to watch out for. We’ve got so many players than can switch a game.”
Jones said coach Adam Kingsley takes player fitness and skinfolds in particular very seriously.
“For us it definitely is,” Jones said.
“I don’t know what it is like at other clubs and how seriously other clubs take it, but Adam Kingsley wants everyone to have pretty good skinfolds and everyone to be in the best shape they can be.
“It’s pretty important for us. We always want our players to be in the best shape.”
The Giants will likely roll out a forward line including Coleman Medallist Jesse Hogan, captain Toby Greene, Stringer, former number one pick Aaron Cadman, Jones himself and Brent Daniels.
