Foran still believes in the Titans after upset win
It was no Tino and no worries for the Titans.
The Gold Coast Titans have pulled off an upset win without their two best players against the Manly Sea Eagles on Friday night.
The Titans would win 28-8 on the Gold Coast with Alofiana Khan-Pereira scoring a double which sees him score 51 tries in the space of 52 games.
This was despite Manly getting the first try of the game through Reuben Garrick in his 150th game.
However, after that, the Gold Coast would dominate possession and would pile on the score in the first half leading 22-8 at halftime.
The second half would be much more of an arm wrestle between the two sides. But a Chris Randall try in the 69th minute would secure the Titans’ first win since round 10.
While the win still sees them sit at the bottom of the ladder with a point differential of -122, captain Kieran Foran remains confident that the Titans, despite their position, can make a charge up the ladder if they play like they did today on a more consistent basis.
“I still believe we can,” Foran said post-game.
“I’ve always maintained that we’ve got a great footy side here and, we just got to build one block at a time.
“Unfortunately, the first part of the season hasn’t gone to plan and (has) been on the back of some disappointing performances.
“But, if we string one together tonight and then we got to reset and then go again next week. It’s a block at a time and if we can do that then you just never know.”
Foran would also join SEN's Saturday League Kick-Off to talk about the win.
“It’s been a really tough couple of months for us, and we haven’t performed to our potential,” Foran explained.
“We knew we just had to claw our way to a victory, just to get on the board and get some confidence there.
“Super proud of the effort last night. I just thought the way in which we hung in there in the second half was awesome.”
The Titans will be looking to make it back-to-back wins for the first time since Round 4 this year when they take on the Parramatta Eels next Sunday.
