Draft Watch: Trio of Kangaroo sons fire; gun Sun stuns in VFL
Only four Talent League matches over the weekend but there was still plenty of action surrounding those in draft calculations.
There was a trio of sons of former North Melbourne players who contributed for the Calder Cannons despite losing to the Murray Bushrangers.
Sam Harris, Charlie Tudor and Charlie Robbins all had 22 or more disposals and were among the best players for the Cannons.
Away from the Talent League, Carlton father/son jet Cody Walker played his fourth VFL game of the season, picking up 15 touches and four rebound 50s in a 36-point loss to Coburg in which former Magpie and Roo Jaidyn Stephenson booted 5.4 from 17 touches.
There were some Northern Academies players in VFL action following the conclusion of their Talent League seasons last week.
Gold Coast’s Cooper Collins had a stack of it in his side’s 13-point loss to North Melbourne at Arden Street, finishing with 25 disposals (18 kicks), 14 marks, six tackles and six rebound 50s.
His Suns Academy mates Harrison Gray, Lachlan Cramp and Jonah Harris also got some invaluable VFL minutes.
Lions Academy talent Harrison Bridge played in the VFL again, this time contributing 12 disposals in a 30-point loss to GWS. Fellow Academy member Raphael Geesu made his VFL debut.
Harry Van Hattum played for Ivanhoe Grammar on Friday night and finished the game on the bench with a sore heel. His side lost to Trinity Grammar by a point in the AGSV thriller.
