Draft Watch: Son of hard-nosed Roo growing in stature; Swannies jet bags seven
North Melbourne father/son prospect Sam Harris is growing in stature every week.
The son of 149-game Kangaroo Daniel, Harris is going about his business with the Calder Cannons in the Talent League.
He was one of his side's best with three goals from 21 disposals in a 22-point win over the Falcons in Torquay.
Harris' work ethic and application to his craft are two of his feature qualities as he goes about putting himself in the draft landscape.
“Such a hard-working midfielder/forward," Calder talent lead Seb Spagnuolo told SEN's Future Stars show.
“He’s tipped everything into this season. He was part of the Vic Metro summer hub, he trains with purpose, he’s got great intensity.
“Hopefully a big year for Sammy and there’s no doubt he’ll be in the conversation for North Melbourne as a father/son later in the year.
“He’s doing a bit of work with them in school holidays and things like that. He’s graduated from Year 12 already so he’s able to jump in a lot more programming with North Melbourne in the father/son academy.
“We’re fully behind Sammy and we support him to have a really good year. We’ll see him a little bit more forward as well at times to show he has ability to play both mid and forward.”
Fellow father/son jet Cody Walker again handled himself impressively in the VFL, picking up 24 disposals with nine marks and four inside 50s as Carlton kicked a huge score of 24.13.(157) to beat Casey by 122 points.
The son of former star Blue Andrew is gaining invaluable experience playing against seasoned footballers, continuing his ascent to a possible top five selection.
The Sydney Swans Academy has put together a very good football team.
One of their guns in Ben Pignatelli bagged seven goals in a dominant showing against the Eastern Ranges.
