Draft watch: Power urged to go after Geelong VFL’s former Magpie
Port Adelaide have been implored to look at a former Collingwood and Geelong player ahead of the mid-season rookie draft.
The player in question is Nathan Kreuger who is playing some good footy in the VFL for the Cats.
Kreuger, 25, was delisted by the Magpies last year after 13 senior games across three seasons having previously been on Geelong’s AFL list where he played two senior games.
After the season-ending shoulder injury sustained by second-year forward Xavier Walsh, a spot has opened up on the Power’s list and they could do worse than look at Kreuger in next week’s draft.

That is according to SEN SA’s Kym Dillon who has urged the Power to cast their eye the way of the forward/defender who is in career-best shape in 2025.
“Do I have a player for Port Adelaide that you should pick up,” Dillon said on SEN SA’s The Run Home.
“The draft is next week and we’ll be talking about it. There’s a number of players around.
“He’s a 25-year-old who played for Collingwood and Geelong. A lad called Nathan Kreuger.
“He was delisted, but he can play. He’s been cruelled by injury, he’s had shoulder reconstructions. He’s now playing in the VFL for Geelong and he is starring.
“Apparently he is fitter than he’s ever been and it’s all due to his partner who is an Australian middle-distance runner - Tess Kirsopp-Cole.
“How’s this for improving your fitness… if you consider he was playing AFL with Collingwood and making their side - he’s a raw talent - he has taken 20 seconds off his 2km time trial. He is flying.
“Even the VFL coach, former Cat Mark Corrigan, said he’s in the best shape he’s ever been. He’s been starring.
“He can play up forward or in defence. I’m not saying I know anything about Port being interested in him, but I think people will give him another opportunity.
“I’ll throw it out there…”
The versatile Kreuger is averaging 12.7 disposals, 6.3 marks and has kicked seven goals across seven VFL games for the Cats so far in 2025.
Port currently holds Pick 3 in next Wednesday night’s mid-season draft.
