Draft Watch: Port & Hawks father/sons, Dons & Dogs NGA guns dominate
There were some NGA-linked young guns who had huge games in then Talent League across the weekend.
Tevita Rodan, son of former Tiger, Power and Demon David, racked up 30 disposals for the first time this season as the Calder Cannons comfortably accounted for the Bendigo Pioneers.
Cannons talent lead Seb Spagnuolo provided some inside information on Rodan on SEN’s Future Stars podcast recently.
“Anyone that can remember 'D-Rod' running around, very powerful, explosive, really evasive with his step - that’s Tevita as well, but he’s a bit taller,” said Spagnuolo of Rodan Jnr.
“He can play mid, forward, wing, half-back, anywhere really. He’s also part of the Essendon NGA program and is also father/son eligible to Port Adelaide. He did a bit with Port over the January School holidays.
“He’s one we’re really excited about. He got a Vic Metro trial as a bottom-ager which he really deserved after being All-Australian Under-16s last year.”
The Western Bulldogs have a gun NGA prospect in their midst in Kobe Williams.
But there will likely be competition for Williams who is also a Hawthorn father/son prospect as the young fella of 2008 premiership Hawk and 111-gamer Mark.
His last three Talent League outings have returned 25 and 3.3, 28 and 3.1, 25 and 3.4 in a splendid run of form.
