Draft Watch: Carlton's potential father-son No. 1 pick goes crazy again
Round 16 of the Coates Talent League was jam-packed with six games, showcasing the emerging talent destined for the AFL next season.
Carlton father-son prospect Cody Walker was the standout performer of the round for the Bendigo Pioneers, racking up a round-high 38 disposals and a remarkable 12 inside 50s. Walker has been on fire over the past month and the under-ager continues to strengthen his case as the potential No. 1 pick in next year’s draft.
Sebastian Murphy, the brother of Adelaide’s Lachie Murphy, also impressed for the Northern Knights. He laid a game-high 10 tackles, gathered 23 disposals, slotted 2 goals, and delivered 6 inside 50s. While not currently aligned with the Crows, there’s no doubt that footy talent runs deep in the Murphy family.
Potential first-rounder Jack Dalton followed up his near best-on-ground outing for Vic Metro last week with another scintillating performance for the Sandringham Dragons. In a side that went down by 70 points, Dalton still managed a game-high 10 inside 50s, an equal game-high 9 tackles, as well as 22 disposals and a goal. A seriously impressive showing from the Dragons midfielder.
