“Don’t bother”: Cornes and King assess Greene and Byrne-Jones incidents

Kane Cornes and David King have assessed the two contentious incidents from Sunday.
First up was the Toby Greene tunneling incident on Matt Owies in GWS’ massive win over West Coast.
Greene arrived at the aerial contest slightly late, upending Owies who hit the ENGIE Stadium turf with force.
The incident will be assessed by MRO Michael Christian but Cornes does not believe the Giants skipper has anything to worry about.
“Don’t bother assessing Toby Greene,” Cornes said on SEN Breakfast.
“It wasn’t tunnelling. He arrived basically right when the ball was there and it was just an unfortunate awkward situation that he got himself in to.
“There was no tunnelling in that.”
Next was the Darcy Byrne-Jones bump on Ryan Byrnes.
The Port Adelaide forward bumped the Saint as he lowered himself to collect the footy at the Adelaide Oval.
Byrne-Jones collected Byrnes with his hip but there was no damage done.
“Byrne-Jones is a different story. They’ll need to work out where the contact was,” Cornes added.
“There was definitely contact to the shoulder. Was there also contact to the head? I don’t know.
“But it was stupid to try and bump in the first place anyway, so if he cops a week he cops a week.”
It prompted a back and forth between Cornes and King relating to the outcome of such incidents, given that Byrnes was fine to play on.
According to Cornes it is an action that could see the MRO rub him out for a week.
King: “It’s hard because it was a pretty hard but good, fair bump.”
Cornes: “But if there was any contact that was high, and I can’t be certain of that… he got straight up.”
King: “He played on didn’t he? So let’s just move on. If they get straight up…”
Cornes: “Is it the action you want to get rid of?”
King: “If you want to take the risk you take the risk of getting suspended.
“But if you lay the perfectly executed bump then play on, which is pretty much what he’s done, isn’t it?
“I didn’t think he got head.”
Cornes: “It wasn’t solely head, there was definitely top of shoulder.
“I’m just not certain there wasn’t head. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a week.”
