"Dangerous" Broncos reannounce premiership credentials with comeback win
The Brisbane Broncos have renounced their finals credentials with a big comeback 34-28 win over the Cronulla Sharks.
Following a disastrous middle part of the season, where the Broncos won one of seven matches, the Broncos clawed back a lead from 16-points down to ultimately overrun the Sharks thanks to huge efforts from Kotoni Staggs and Adam Reynolds.
Boosted by the returns of Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam, the Broncos have now recorded back-to-back wins to move back into fifth place on the ladder at the time of writing.
SEN League commentator Justin Horo still thinks the Broncos can be a force in the latter part of the season.
“There's still a little bit of work to do for the Broncos, but they're easily the most dangerous team in the competition,” Horo said.
“With the return of Ezra Mam about three weeks ago, followed by Reece Walsh two weeks ago, they still have Ben Hunt to come back as well.
“It's not guaranteed that everyone's gonna stay out there and healthy at the end of the season, but if they play three games, going on a streak of two to three wins or four wins from five weeks is not out of the rounds of possibility for this Broncos team.”
300-game veteran Adam Blair thinks the Broncos can still compete with the best teams in the league if they can keep their star players in form and injury free.
“You can see that they can score points,” Blair said post-game.
“They've got some X-Factor all over the park, and you get… the experience of Ben Hunt comes back into the game, they keep all their young middles healthy and fit, Payne Haas stays on the field, and Reynolds still healthy and fit, and then they go into the next few weeks, winning some more games.
“They're definitely going to challenge these teams at the top of the table for sure.”
