Crystal ball: Maher, De Stoop and Gaze reveal their 2025 AFL locks
With the start of the 2025 AFL season less than a month away, SEN The Run Home trio Andy Maher, Julian De Stoop and Andrew Gaze have named some locks that they’re certain will happen this campaign.
The trio looked into the crystal ball and picked two certainties each that they’re backing now and will come back to at the season’s end.
Check out their 2025 AFL predictions below.

Maher’s locks
A forward will kick double digits in a single game
“There'll be a 10-goal kicker in a game this year,” Maher said on SEN The Run Home.
No one did that last year and of the entire AFL cohort right now, only two have done it and that was Tex (Taylor Walker) and Charlie (Curnow).
“It happened six weeks apart in 2023, both against the same opposition, West Coast.”
No one is getting near Cripps’ 45 votes in 2025
“No one's getting 40 votes in the Brownlow this year.
“Look back on what the winner last year was able to do historically speaking, and the bloke who ran second by that for that matter … there's no way someone's getting 40+ votes in the Brownlow.”
De Stoop’s locks
Pies and Dockers will play in September
“Collingwood and Fremantle will be playing finals football in 2025,” De Stoop said.
“Both missed last year. Both will play finals this year.”
Swans won’t be upset by the Tigers again
“Richmond won’t beat Sydney this year, it won’t happen.
“They beat them last year, they won two games and one of them was against the Swans at the MCG. But they’re not winning this time.”
Gaze’s locks
Roos to double their wins
“The North Melbourne Football Club will win at least 6 games,” Gaze said.
“They're going to double their wins from last season.”
Jesse Hogan’s 77 in 2024 won’t be beaten in 2025
“No one's kicking more than 77 goals this season.
“That will not be beaten, and that's against the trend because you look at the way teams are playing, it's a lot more free-flowing… but I don’t think it’ll happen.”
