Cornes slams former No. 1 pick's damning team meeting confession
Port Adelaide champion Kane Cornes has slammed Jason Horne-Francis’ comments about a recent team meeting that highlighted the midfielder’s bad habits in the loss against Essendon.
Despite having 22 touches and a goal in the loss to the Bombers, the vision shown during the week of Horne Francis and captain Connor Rozee raised concerns over the sides’ standards.
“He showed some vision of us in the team meeting that’s pretty confronting,” the former No. 1 pick said.
“If me and Connor aren’t doing it then other people aren’t going to do it either.
“It’s vision that you need to see, and you need to have especially after some tough losses like that.”
The statement left Cornes puzzled, questioning why the superstar needs to be made aware of his poor efforts at this stage of his career.
“Are they past that?” Cornes remarked.
“Are Connor Rozee and Horne Francis past needing to see the vision of them not working.
“Walking a lot is what I saw.
“Do they need to see that vision or should they just know at that stage of their career that walking from stoppage when everyone else runs.
“I don’t know that he needs to be seen vision of himself walking, he should understand that.”
Cornes’ criticism comes just days after he questioned the 21-year-old’s body language against Essendon.
“It’s the body language for me because he’s a competitive winner, but he doesn’t cope well when things aren’t going his way.
“He sooked last night, there’s no sugar-coating that. Then he seduces you into thinking he’s going to be that match-winner again.”
Horne-Francis will be hoping for an improved performance when Port Adelaide returns to the Adelaide Oval to take on St Kilda on Sunday.
