Cornes: Crows forwards should have a “field day” against undermanned Pies

Kane Cornes has put the heat on Adelaide’s three-pronged tall forward line, saying they need to kick at least 12 goals between them against Collingwood at the MCG this Saturday.
Taylor Walker, Riley Thilthorpe and Darcy Fogarty have combined for 61 goals to start 2025, helping propel Adelaide to the second best offence in the competition.
Cornes called on the big men to dine out this Saturday due to Collingwood’s undermanned and undersized backline with Darcy Moore now sidelined.
“If Adelaide’s tall forward line don’t kick 12 goals between them against Collingwood, what are we doing?” Cornes told SEN's Fireball.
“There’s no Darcy Moore, it is Walker, the 'Thilseeker' (Thilthorpe) and Fogarty versus Billy Frampton, and this is a very good opportunity for them to dine out.
“(Brayden) Maynard will probably play on Taylor Walker and play a bit taller, does (Isaac) Quaynor play a bit taller?
“I don’t know what it is, but if the three-pronged tall forward line for Adelaide doesn’t have an absolute field day against Collingwood at the MCG, something is wrong.
“This would be remarkable if Collingwood can restrict them.
“I don’t think it’s been as effective as what other people do, certainly two of them were pretty good last week, one of them hardly touched it.
“It would’ve been very easy for Port Adelaide to win with the amount of entries that they had last week and I think it’s more been the smalls for Adelaide that have been as dangerous.
“I think it would still be number one if you played two and not three. You play (Jordan) Dawson more forward; you play (Izak) Rankine more forward.
“It depends how they can defend the ground as well. That’s one measure, but also the defensive aspect and how you defend is pretty important as well.
“Collingwood move the footy pretty well, can Adelaide’s giants restrict that ball movement, and can they dine out as well with the favourable match ups that they’ve got?”
The pressure will be on Adelaide’s three forwards come Saturday afternoon with a win potentially moving the Crows into third spot.
