Coates Talent League: Collingwood father-son and NGA prospects shine
With the Coates Talent League season heating up, Round 3 saw some very impressive performances from many potential draftees.
Collingwood father-son prospect Thomas McGuane blitzed for the Western Jets in their defeat to the Eastern Ranges.
McGuane amassed 38 disposals with six inside 50s, three rebound 50s and three tackles in a dominant individual display.
The good news didn't stop their for the Magpies, with Next Generation Academy small forward Jai Saxena kicking 5.2 to go with 17 disposals for Oakleigh against Sandringham. Fellow NGA prospect and potential first-round pick Zac McCarthy found 21 disposals and kicked a goal in the same game for the Chargers, with the 198cm tall playing in forward and in the ruck.
Fellow Pies father-son prospect Oscar Lonie also had 15 disposals in Dandenong's win over GWV Rebels.
Prospective first-round pick and Essendon NGA prospect Adam Sweid had a standout game for the Calder Cannons, laying a round-high nine tackles and accumulating 30 disposals.
Tom Evans also dominated for the Bendigo Pioneers, racking up 44 disposals and 150 fantasy points. He continues his dominant start to the season, now averaging 32 disposals per game.
Other top draft prospects united over the weekend, taking on Richmond VFL as part of the AFL Academy.
Brisbane Lions Academy prospect and AFL Academy captain Dan Annable starred in the midfield and was awarded best-on-ground honours.

The Northern Knights narrowly led throughout the game, clinching their first win of the season by defeating the previously undefeated Calder Cannons.

Western Jets (59) – (110) Eastern Rangers
The Eastern Rangers dominated the winless Western Jets, sending them to the bottom of the ladder.

Geelong Falcons (98) – (28) Murray Bushrangers
