Coach killer: Voss cannot survive after North mess
The future of Michael Voss is under intense questioning yet again after another horror result for Carlton against North Melbourne with Campbell Brown labelling the 11-point defeat a “coach killer”.
Carlton failed to kick a goal from halfway through the first quarter until well into the third, booed off the MCG by their fans three times through the clash.
Defeat was unexpected to say the least after the Blues smashed North by 62-points just two months ago. But for Brown, this could mark the end of the road for Voss.
“It’s a dead set coach killer,” he said on AFL Nation. “I don’t think Vossy can survive after what happened today. Don’t for one second look at the margin and think they weren’t that bad.
“They looked scared out there today, that’s not a word I’m using lightly.
“The fumbling and the second guessing from Carlton was alarming.”
Sitting 10th on the ladder and with trips to Adelaide, Brisbane and a clash with Collingwood in their next three games, life is not set to get much easier for Voss and his team.
Nonetheless, the coach was unimpressed with the boos he heard ring out at half-time, three-quarter-time and full time.
"It's not time to isolate, it's time to come together," Voss said of the booing.
"We love coming to the ground and having the supporter base we have and the passion that our supporters have, but we share in their disappointment."
Asked if he felt he was coaching to save his job, Voss deflected somewhat.
"It's more about staying present to where we're at... the competitor in me is about getting better tomorrow," he said.
