Round 22 in the NRL features one of the most highly anticipated match ups of the season as the Wests Tigers host the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at CommBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
It will be the first time that Bulldogs halfback Lachlan Galvin faces his former side following a less than harmonious exit from the club in May.
SEN’s Greg Alexander is concerned that Galvin will be subjected to a chorus of boos and jeers from Tigers fans which could take focus away from the actual match.
“Is it fair cop to boo Lachlan Galvin if you’re a Tigers fan?” SEN’s Andrew Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“Is there anything wrong with that? Sunday 2pm kick-off and you boo Galvin.
Alexander responded: “No there’s nothing wrong with it.
“I’m sick of (talking about Galvin) and we have been booing players all season.
“I have been to grounds where players are being booed every time they touch the ball.
“It’s a different case with Ezra Mam who has copped it.
“Boo Galvin when he runs out but after that, just stop it.”
Galvin played a total of 31 games with the Tigers from his debut in 2024 and quickly shot to super stardom.
The 20-year-old was off contract at the end of 2026 and was free to negotiate with rival clubs from November 1 2025.
The Tigers were keen to re-sign Galvin to a seven-figure deal but discussions broke down after Galvin’s management cited concerns over coach Benji Marshall and the potential for development at the club.
A bitter war of words and claims of bullying at the Tigers ensued before Galvin was eventually released from his contract and joined the Bulldogs.
“I am absolutely expecting boos,” The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio declared on SEN 1170 Breakfast.
“No. There’s nothing wrong with that.
“It’s passion from the fans. As long as it doesn’t cross the line and become personal abuse.
“Outside of that, I think it’s all fair.”
