Harry McKay is set to miss this weekend’s clash with the Western Bulldogs.
The Carlton forward has been ruled out due to personal reasons and will be absent from the team this Friday night at Marvel Stadium.
McKay was a late withdrawal ahead of the eventual Round 2 loss to Hawthorn, with the club citing illness as the reason for him missing.
Since then he has spent several days away from the club who released a statement relating to the Coleman Medallist which included the following:
“He returned to the Club on Wednesday and was able to train with teammates, however the 27-year-old’s wellbeing remains a focus as he continues to work through a personal matter.
“The Club is providing the appropriate support to McKay, with his availability for Round 4 to be determined next week.”
Blues coach Michael Voss told media that the 27-year-old needed some time away.
“He's doing OK,” said Voss.
“Obviously, he was dealing with a few things during the week. He took some time away from the club, but obviously we felt it best that he doesn't play this week. We'll give him the space he needs to be able to work through a few things and not necessarily put a timeframe on him, but hopefully he'll be back soon.
“He's back at the club, he came back Wednesday. He needed a few days away and used the opportunity to create a little bit of space. Obviously, now we respect his privacy and us as a team we get on with things.”
The 0-2 Blues are in desperate need of a win on Friday night against a 1-1 Dogs side that fought bravely in their narrow loss to Collingwood last weekend.
