Carlton forward ruled out for 2026 after shocking ACL injury

Carlton's Jesse Motlop will miss the 2026 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament, the club has confirmed.
the 22-year-old sustained the injury during training on Monday and is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.
“Jesse has put in plenty of hard work in the pre-season, so we are really feeling for him at this time,” Carlton General Manager of Football Chris Davies said.
“While there is understandable disappointment right now, Jesse is the ultimate professional, who possesses great resilience, which will help as he moves through the recovery process.
“The Club and medical staff will continue to support Jesse during his rehabilitation.”
News of Motlop's season-ending injury came on the same day north Melbourne youngster Jackson Archer was confirmed to have have picked up the same injury.
Motlop played all 23 games for the Blues in 2025, kicking 17 goals in a much improved season.
