The worst-kept secret in Rugby League has been officially revealed.
The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have officially confirmed the signing of Lachlan Galvin with the halfback signing a three-and-a-half-year deal.
The deal is effective immediately which means that Galvin could play for the Bulldogs as soon as next week against the Eels.
The news comes after footage broke of him participating in a Bulldogs’ training session earlier in the day before his deal and early release had been officially confirmed.
His signing ends months of speculation after he rejected a contract offer from the Wests Tigers, which would have seen him earn between $5 million to $6 million over five years.
In a statement released by the Bulldogs on Friday night, they were thrilled to have secured the signature of the 19-year-old.
“The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the signing of Lachlan Galvin, effective immediately,” the statement read.
“The 19-year-old joins the Club on a deal that secures him until the end of 2028.
“Galvin arrives to Belmore with 31 NRL games under his belt since making his first-grade debut in 2024 and has notched up a total of 24 try assists, while also averaging over 120 running metres per game.
“The Club is thrilled to welcome Lachlan to the Bulldogs family.”
The Wests Tigers would also release a statement about Galvin's early release.
Tigers CEO Shane Richardson would keep his response as brief and non-descript as possible in response to the news.
“We wish Lachlan all the best with another NRL Club,” Richardson said.
Galvin would also keep his statement short as he thanked the board for processing his release.
“I am grateful to the Wests Tigers Board and Management for granting my early release. I wish the playing group success in the future.”
