Days after winning his maiden Premiership ring, Payne Haas made Broncos history by winning the Paul Morgan Medal for a sixth time in seven seasons.
Claiming the award at Brisbane's presentation night at Star Casino on Thursday means Haas has dethroned club legend and halfback Allan Langer who won five during his legendary career.
Hailing his star player who was central to the Broncos come-from-behind win over the Storm in last weekend's Grand Final, Michael Maguire said: “He is a great man and a great leader.
“I first worked with Payne with the NSW Origin team and he is just the ultimate professional.
“He is always driving standards and the sacrifices he makes for the team on the field makes him a pleasure to coach.”
The 25-year-old Haas played 24 games in 2025 and averaged 166 run metres (67 metres post contact) from almost 16 hit ups per game together with 35 tackles at 98 per cent efficiency.
Haas also had 130 tackle busts and 70 offloads which saw him awarded the Shane Webcke Award for Best Forward and Gary Balkin Award for Players’ Player.
The Allan Langer Award for best back was shared by Reece Walsh and Kotoni Staggs.
Tamika Upton was named the broncos NRLW Player of the Year after guiding her side to a Premiership victory.
