Bombers board expresses lack of concern over Bulldog domination
Essendon Director and former player Dean Solomon has expressed his lack of concern for the club following their 91-point smashing at the hands of the Western Bulldogs.
After a bright start to the season for the Dons, their Round 10 contest against the Dogs was destined to prove a challenge, with Essendon entering the clash having lost every game against current top eight sides in 2025.
With that being said, the result of the contest was far below expectations, failing to compete from the first bounce to give up 10 goals to one in the first half en route to their 127-36 defeat.
In spite of the result, Solomon has reiterated that the club is not overly concerned by the result, stating that internally the Bombers understand where they stand within the AFL ranks.
Just weeks ago, the Bombers admitted plans to enter a rebuilding phase, and although results up to this point have fallen their way, the club continues to maintain position in setting up for the future rather than the present.

“I just know where we’re at,” Solomon told AFL Nation.
“We didn’t want to execute a game like that, but look at Fremantle, what they did yesterday, look what the Giants did against Geelong last week. It’s going to happen.
“Did we want it to be 91 points? No. Did we go into the game thinking we’ll win? Yes.
“Internally, we articulated where we’re at really well last week. We had a reasonable start, but we beat West Coast by two or three points, we beat North Melbourne by two or three points.
“We know when we come up against top five teams, which the Bulldogs are, it’s going to be a real challenge.
“We’ve got a list that has reset, we’ve had five debutants this year. It’s a really exciting time, but we’re going to have moments, quarters, maybe games like yesterday, that we’re just going to have to go through.
“The medium to long term is in good shape, we have a clear vision of where we’re going. These guys that we’re giving exposure to will be inconsistent at times, and we just have to cop that.
“Every team goes through that. All I’m saying is, stick strong, we’re pretty clear on where we’re going.
“We’re not frustrated, we’re not stressed internally. We’re actually quite excited.”
The Bombers will look to bounce back as they face Richmond at the MCG next Friday night.
