Australia’s best drivers to compete in Tasmania
Some of the best harness drivers in Australia will be in Tasmania at the weekend for the 2025 Australian Drivers’ Championship at Ladbrokes Park, Elwick on Sunday (21 December).
The eight-race card commences with the first race at 1.19 pm.
The annual series alternates between Tasmania and South Australia, with Tasmania last hosting the series in Launceston in 2023.
The line-up of drivers features nine individual Group 1 winners, including James Herbertson from Victoria, who leads the Australian Drivers’ Premiership this year.
Tasmania’s two representatives have both tasted success at the highest level, with Rohan Hillier winning the 2014 Victorian Oaks and Dylan Ford the 2025 Tasmania Cup.
Ford is excited about another opportunity to represent his home state.
“This is something every driver wants to do, and to be able to do it as a senior driver now, after having the opportunity on multiple occasions, is something I’m really excited about,” he said.
“The chance to drive against and spend time with the best in Australia doesn’t come around every day.”
Ford will win this year’s Tasmanian Drivers’ Premiership, currently on 80 wins, 20 clear of second place.
Rohan Hillier is coming off some feature race success in Launceston, winning the Doug Martin Danbury Park last Sunday with Tasmania’s best pacer Triedtotellya.
