Boxing star Anthony Joshua has survived a fatal car crash in Nigeria which killed two people.
The British national with Nigerian heritage has emerged from the wreckage which occurred near the town of Makun along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The two people who did not survive were passengers in the car Joshua was in.
Reports indicate that the two men who lost their lives are Joshua’s close friends and coaches/trainers - Kevin Latif Ayodele Latz and Sina Ghami.
Reports suggest Joshua was unconscious for 10 minutes before bystanders helped him regain consciousness.
The Lexus Joshua rode in “was suspected to be travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit on the corridor, lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and crashed into a stationary truck... by the side of the road,” according to a statement from Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn told the Daily Mail: “We are trying to contact Anthony and in the meantime we don’t want to speculate on how he is but thankfully he appears OK from what I have seen in the images.”
Joshua recently broke the jaw of YouTube boxer Logan Paul in a much-criticised Netflix bout.
