Alastair Lynch names his biggest talent in the AFL
Who is the most talented young player in the AFL?
From Nick Daicos’ brilliance to Sam Darcy’s un-humanlike ability, the AFL is absolutely jam packed with the talent of tomorrow, most of which have already stamped their ground as the talent of here and now.
With the league in incredible shape for the next generation to take the reins, SEN Tassie’s newest brekkie co-host Alastair Lynch has labelled one special Giant as the cream of the crop.
Following GWS’ dominant Thursday night win over the Bombers, the Giants’ stars caught Lynch’s eye, with a young midfielder commanding the highest of praise.

“You look at their top-end talent,” Lynch told SEN Tassie Breakfast.
“You’ve seen Tom Green in recent times, and obviously Toby Greene as well. Whitfield gets a lot of it.
“The two players that have really jumped up; Lachie Ash, who’s in that discussion now for All-Australian half back, he’s jumped up from a good player to potentially All-Australian.
“The other one, who is probably the most exciting prospect in the game, Finn Callaghan.
“He has gone from a promising young player last year, to someone that could go to anything. Someone that could finish his career with five or six All-Australians. He is such a talent.
“He’s playing huge footy, and he’s actually leading the way for this midfield brigade which is very talented at the Giants.”
Callaghan has taken a giant leap in 2025, up to 29 disposals, five clearances and four tackles a game across 15 games.
After their 48-point win over Essendon, Callaghan and the Giants now sit two games clear of the ninth-placed Bulldogs, with tonight’s contest between the Dogs and the Lions set to have major implications on the top eight.
