Tom Morrisβ trade update on Reid, Curnow, Windhager & more

Itβs trade time!
Trade season is just around the corner with 10 clubs now done for the season (Essendon to finish on Wednesday).
SENβs Tom Morris has provided an update on six players as the footy industry prepares for player movement season.
Marcus Windhager (St Kilda)
North Melbourne showing interest
βWindhager wants to stay,β Morris said on SEN Breakfast.
βSt Kildaβs offer is not yet four years, but if it gets to four years today he would sign today.
βHe just needs that security.β
Kane Cornes said: βHeβs a must have, you need these players. Good performer and consistent. An age demographic that suits the Saints but never going to be an A-grader.
βWhat do you pay him? This is what St Kilda are clearly weighing up. We canβt overpay for a player who has limitations in his game.β
Morris added: βSt Kilda and Lyon has a philosophy, you have your stars that you pay, future stars you pay to keep and then youβve got your soldiers.
βThis is about tenure. North has offered five years for Windhager. They want someone in that age bracket β a bit older than Harry Sheezel. North need the older guys, they have the younger guys.
βThey need to bring someone in to get better.β
Tom De Koning (Carlton) & Rowan Marshall (St Kilda)
De Koning set to join St Kilda, Marshall on Geelong's radar
βSo TDK comes in on $1.8 million over eight years as a free agent. He will tell the Blues heβs going as a free agent," Morris said.
βIt means thereβs a decision for Rowan Marshall even before St Kilda decides what they want to do. He can go to the club and say, βI want outβ, then St Kilda has a call to make, or he can say, βIβm happy hereβ, because he is happy there, the club respects him, heβs clearly a good player.
βHow much is a player willing to kick and scream to get out like Christian Petracca last year? As soon as you put your head above water you open yourself up if you donβt get out.
βThe Saints are adamant theyβre not (considering a trade). It would have to be an unbelievable deal from the Cats to get Rowan Marshall out.β
Cornes added: βIf Iβm the Giants Iβm offering a pretty good contract to Rowan Marshall to get him there.β
Charlie Curnow (Carlton)
On Gold Coast, Sydney and Geelong rumours
βCharlie Curnow is the one Iβm really interested in.
βThis has the potential to be the biggest story in footy. He was telling people months ago that he would like to leave and play for the Gold Coast Suns.
βHe was doing it in a way that it wasnβt necessarily formal. Everyone from the club is saying, βCharlie, weβre not trading you, stop thinking about thisβ. He also would have realised the Suns canβt get it done, Ben King is staying, they wonβt use the picks on him and donβt have the cap space.
βThe Gold Coast idea is gone for the moment.
βYou look around and see Sydney and Geelong as the other two clubs attractive to Curnow.
βThe conversation keeps going despite the fact that Curnow himself says he will be at Carlton next year.
βWe get caught up in what players say publicly and what players say privately. Dan Houston was Exhibit A, and Tom Barrass was Exhibit B.
βYou canβt always trust exactly what the players say and heβs contracted for a long time. I suspect Curnow walks into his exit meeting and speaks about his future. To what degree he wants to get out remains to be seen and to what degree heβs willing to kick the door down remains to be seen.
βCarltonβs answer will be no unless we can get Errol Gulden or Isaac Heeney - something ridiculous.β
Harley Reid (West Coast)
On his contract talks
βHe had his exit meeting on Friday and there was nothing out of that meeting that Iβm aware of.
βThis will continue to tick as clubs in Melbourne wait on a decision from Harley Reid as to whether he wants to seek a trade or stay.
βEveryone I speak to at West Coast is saying he is so invested in the back half of the year, compared to the first six or seven weeks. The difference has been stark.
βBut this doesnβt mean that heβs not going to want to move, so this is still one to watch.
βI still believe that if he leaves West Coast or seeks a trade that Hawthorn is the club where heβll want to go.
βIt could definitely be this year because heβs worth more this year than in 12 monthsβ time.β
Sam Draper (Essendon)
Adelaide and Brisbane are keen on the Bomber
βDraper had his exit meeting yesterday (Monday).
βEssendonβs offer is now five years, the Brisbane Lions and Adelaide still believe theyβre in it.
βWeβre just waiting to hear what he wants to do.β
Zane Duursma (North Melbourne)
βHasnβt been a first-choice player. Heβs disgruntled because he wants to play.
βI canβt see a world where he gets out but thereβs lots of noise around Duursma and if he doesnβt play next year what heβs worth in a trade.
βHe is one to watch. I canβt see how it happens because a club is going to have give up a top 10 pick and heβs probably not worth that.
βBut heβs frustrated that he hasnβt been playing.β
