Trade talk: Star Bomber recommits future amid trade rumours
Essendon wantaway defender Jordan Ridley has recommitted to the club following talks of a potential trade.
It was reported last week that the former All-Australian was seeking a move up north, wanting to join the Brisbane Lions due to their incredible track record with players dealing with repeat injuries.
However, 7News reporter Mitch Cleary has today confirmed that the defender has confirmed his desire to remain a Bomber, committing his future to the club.
“I'm fully committed to playing my best football here. I have immense faith in Brad Scott and the direction he's taking this developing group,” Ridley said.
The club openly expressed that regardless of Ridley’s desire to leave, they would not be trading their key man, who remains under contract until 2029.
Having re-structured their fitness department, Essendon and Ridley will be hoping to manage further playing time in 2026 and beyond, having featured in just 19 games over the last two seasons.
