Revealed: North Melbourne's late offer to Carlton for Curnow
Amongst all the madness and mayhem from the final day of Trade Period, it has emerged that there was a fourth club that was interested in trying to trade for Charlie Curnow.
Throughout the season, the two-time Coleman Medallist's desire to move from Carlton only grew as the Blues struggled to find form.
With that, several clubs became interested in attaining Curnow’s services, with the Geelong Cats, Sydney Swans and the Gold Coast Suns all being linked.
Out of the three, it would be Sydney who managed to land their big forward recruit in the dying moments of the Trade Period.
To bring him across from Carlton, the Swans had to part ways with Will Hayward, pick 11, a 2026 first-round pick and a 2027 first-round pick. In return, Sydney would pick up Curnow alongside Pick 31, 42 and a 2027 second-round pick.
But according to AFL.com.au’s Cal Twomey, North Melbourne made a play for the two-time Coleman Medallist on the last day of the Trade Period.
North Melbourne was reportedly prepared for the second year in a row to trade a future first-round pick.
In fact, the Kangaroos were willing to offer their 2026 and 2027 first-round picks with the possibility of adding the draft picks that they earned from a potential deal with Collingwood for captain Jy Simpkin.
But the deal did not go further beyond that, with North also deciding not to part with Simpkin following Collingwood’s offer of a future second-round pick.
