Brisbane’s possible ins and outs this trade period

There is expected to be a bit of movement at the Brisbane Lions this trade period.
West Coast co-captain Oscar Allen is set to explore free agency with it no secret that the Lions are keen on him and he is keen on them.
But with Allen coming in it means someone might have to go out and that could possibly be Callum Ah Chee.
The out-of-contract 27-year-old is a reported target for the Adelaide Crows as well as West Coast.
Could the Lions lose him as a result of Allen coming in?
“Absolutely a fair chance, Ah Chee is most likely looking at Adelaide, West Coast are in the hunt as well,” AFL Media’s Josh Gabelich said on SEN’s Fireball.
“He’s got a pull back to WA with his brother (Brendon) and an academy there. So a watch on him.”
Ah Chee has been with the Lions since joining from Gold Coast prior to the 2020 season.
With Ah Chee’s potential exit comes lingering Lions interest in Essendon ruckman Sam Draper.
Draper, who is sidelined with a ruptured achilles, is still wanted by the Bombers but could be swayed by either the Crows or the Lions who are both interested.
“If they could get Sam Draper as well as Oscar Allen who knows what’s possible in 2026,” Gabelich added.
“Cal Twomey reported late last week that Essendon has upped its offer from four years to five (for Draper). They added a fifth year with a trigger. So they are hoping to retain him.
“Adelaide are still in the hunt for him despite re-signing Reilly O’Brien. They have sold him on the fact that he can come and play as a forward to start with, coming off the achilles (injury) and Taylor Walker in the back end of his career.
“I just still think it’s a three-horse race after speaking to clubs across the weekend.
“He’d be a big get for Brisbane considering what’s going on with Oscar McInerney and their ruck situation.”
Before the trade period, however, the Lions have finals to focus on after finishing the home and away season in third position.
They’ll take on Geelong in a Qualifying Final next weekend after the pre-finals bye.
