Three-club midfielder calls time on career
Sydney Swans veteran Taylor Adams has announced his retirement, effective immediately.
The 32-year-old midfielder has called time on his career after 229 games across 15 seasons and three clubs.
Adams told his Swans teammates on Monday morning that he was hanging up the boots after a shocking run with injuries.
“I’m incredibly grateful to all three clubs I have played for and to have had an amazing football journey,” Adams said in a club statement.
“It was always a dream of mine to play at the highest level, so to have played AFL for well over a decade is something I should be really proud of.
“To the Giants, Pies and now the Swans, I want to say thank you to all three clubs and to all of the staff involved in my career along the way. It’s been a great journey but I’m now ready for another chapter.”
Adams was a foundation player at GWS in 2012, playing 31 games for the Giants over two years after he was selected with Pick 13 in the 2011 draft.
He spent 10 seasons at Collingwood where he played 175 games and was named All-Australian in 2020.
The Geelong Falcons product then joined the Swans and played 19 games in 2024 but has managed just four since and hasn’t featured at senior level in 2026.
Adams amassed 5313 disposals at an average of 23.2 across his career.
