“Nowhere to hide”: King’s massive test for North Melbourne
North Melbourne great David King has urged his old club to bring their A-game to Friday night footy.
The Kangaroos meet Collingwood at Marvel Stadium tonight in a rare Friday night standalone fixture which, according to King, could be their last chance to win in season 2026.
Alastair Clarkson’s 8-8, 11th-placed Roos have a tricky run to end the campaign which has prompted King to thrown down the gauntlet.

“This is a passion piece for me,” King said on SEN’s Fireball.
“If the Kangaroos don’t beat the Pies tonight then they might not win another game for the year.
“Let me read the draw - Melbourne next week, St Kilda after that who are back in form, then the Hawks, Dogs, Cats, Swans.
“If they don’t win tonight they won’t win another game.
“Let’s see how it goes. Friday night footy, nowhere to hide, bring your A-game. It’s north-south please, no more east-west.”
SEN’s Sam Edmund also put the Roos in the gun as the original pioneers of Friday night footy who are now back on the stage they created.
“I’ve got them in the gun as the pioneers of Friday night footy,” Edmund said.
“They’ve finally been welcomed back to the Friday night slot for the first time in seven years.
“Now, perform, or it might be another seven years. Put up or shut up time.
“A massive obligation on the Kangaroos. Bring the fight to Friday night football.
“Show us what made you the pioneers of Friday night football.”
The Roos v Pies clash kicks off at 7:40pm AEST tonight.
