“Incredible”: Dusty comeback tour to continue in Tassie
The Dustin Martin comeback tour will continue in Tasmania next month.
Richmond great Martin suited up for the Port Douglas Crocs in his first official game in just under two years since his 2024 retirement on the weekend.
The three-time Norm Smith Medallist kicked two goals in the 47-point triumph over the South Cairns Cutters.
And now he’s got the taste for it.
SEN Tassie’s Brent Costelloe says that Dusty will again pull on the boots on, this time in Tassie for the Clarence Football Club.
Martin will play in the SFL Premier League against Kingborough at North Hobart Oval on Saturday, June 13.
The match takes place the day before Richmond plays the Brisbane Lions at Ninja Stadium in the AFL.
Clarence is the former club of Martin’s triple premiership teammate Jack Riewoldt who again wore the red and white in a one-off match in 2024.
“What a massive coup this is for the Roos, which of course has been organised by Jack Riewoldt his former teammate, who has also played for the club since retiring from AFL,” Costelloe said on SEN Tassie Breakfast.
Clarence president Nat Belbin was thrilled to confirm Dusty's impending appaerance.
“It’s incredible. We’ve only been waiting about six weeks to announce this,” Belbin said.
“We’re really pumped that we’ve gone live this morning. I think this is going to be incredible for footy in Tassie, for our club.
“In the words of my 12-year-old son, Dusty’s the GOAT. I don’t think it gets much bigger and better than this. We’re really excited.”
Clarence currently sits second on the SFL Premier League ladder with a record of 3-2, behind the undefeated Lauderdale, while Kingborough is currently winless on the bottom.
The Roos beat Kingborough - who just so happen to be the Tigers - by 48 points on Saturday with former Essendon and Brisbane small forward Josh Green bagging seven goals.
